Black Newspapers History Month!... 'Newspaper Of The Week!'...The Free Citizen!

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...The Free Citizen!

Founded and edited in 1874 by The Honorable E. A. Webster,

The Free Citizen, published in Orangeburg,

South Carolina, was a Republican-oriented

newspaper supporting Our Beautiful Black

Community during Reconstruction.

Unfortunately, it had to close in 1876.

Black Newspapers History Month was

founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.

in 2025 to acknowledge, praise, and respect

the Publishers, Editors, Reporters,

Typesetters, Secretaries, Agents,

Distributors, Newsstands, Paperboys,

and all of the the Team Members,

over the many decades, necessary

to produce and disseminate to Our

Black Beautiful Populations the needed

paper ( and now digital) instruments

to inform, inspire, and promote literacy,

so that Our People can make better

decisions, remember Our Great Histories,

to keep Our People up on current events,

to engage our populations to organize,

provide tips and methods to stay safe

in potentially-hostile environments,

and create mechanisms to construct

Our Enterprises for Our Outstanding Futures.

Black Newspapers History Month!... 'Newspaper Of The Week!'...The Delaware Reporter!

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...The Delaware Reporter!

The Honorable J. Alexis DuBois conquered all odds

and created the first Beautiful Black weekly of the

city, The Delaware Reporter, in Wilmington,

Delaware, commencing in 1940

Because of the small Beautiful Black Population in Delaware at the time,

the paper only lasted until the mid-1940s.

Black Newspapers History Month was

founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.

Black Newspapers History Month!... 'Newspaper Of The Week!'...The Emancipator!

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...The Montgomery Emancipator!

The Honorable J. Edward McCall established The Emancipator after

he was blinded as a consequence of catching

typhoid fever while a student at Howard U.,

but he did not let that stop him one bit because

he promised to go back to Montgomery, Alabama

and raise his voice for civil rights, along with

his wife, The  Honorable Margaret McCall,

and he was seen as a rabble rouser by the local

KKK so they ran them out of town,

but no matter, he and his wife relocated to

Detroit, Michigan, and he started the

successful Detroit Tribune

in 1933!

He was also celebrated

as a popular poet!

And he came up with

political cartoons!
