The Honorable Calvin W. Roark founded 

The Washington Informer on October 16, 

1964. He knew exactly how he wanted to 

inform and inspire his readers...by telling 

the unvarnished truth and how to methodically 

plan for personal and community success...on

a weekly basis!


The Honorable Denise Roark Barnes is 


the current publisher.

The Honorable Micha Green is


thee Editor.

There so many other Support Staff that 

give their time, talents, and energy to 


make this paper the success that it is! Thank you!












Black Newspapers History Month, 

celebrated every year in January, was 

founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.

in 2025 to acknowledge, praise, and respect 

the Publishers, Editors, Reporters, 

Typesetters, Secretaries, Agents, 

Distributors, Newsstands, Paperboys, 

and all of the the Team Members, 

over the many decades, necessary 

to produce and disseminate to Our

Black Beautiful Populations the needed 

paper ( and now digital) instruments 

to inform, inspire, and promote literacy, 

so that Our People can make better 

decisions, remember Our Great Histories, 

to keep Our People up on current events,

to engage our populations to organize, 

provide tips and methods to stay safe 

in potentially-hostile environments, 

and create mechanisms to construct 

Our Enterprises for Our Outstanding Futures.

Black Newspapers History Month!... 'Newspaper Of The Week!'...The Negro American!

   

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...The Negro American!


Some people called the attorney, orator, and activist, 

The Honorable Robert Charles O'Hara Benjamin 

a 'loud mouth and rabble rouser' in Birmingham, 

Alabama just because he started publishing and 

editing The Negro American in 1886. Called 

'the most outspoken newspaper in Birmingham,' 

under his pen mane,'Cicero,' he vehemently 

denounced the increasing number of lynchings 

and violent treatments of Our Beautiful Black People. 

Well, the klan ran him out of town during his 

first year of scathing essays. After he left, 

The Honorable J. W. White, The Honorable Albert Boyd, 

and The Honorable A. N. Jackson, 

edited and publish the periodical.

After a hair-raising run, the paper closed in 1891.

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...African-American News And Issues! 



Concerned about issues, both current 

and historical, and wanting to actually 

propose solutions and do something 

about our situations, 

The Honorable Roy Malonson and his 

wife, The Honorable Sherly Malonson, 


initiated the African-American News And Issues 

newspaper in Houston, Texas in 1996. 


Now it is considered the largest 


Beautiful Black Newspaper in the state.
