Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'
The attorney, Honorable Jarius Anthony Josey, along with
The Honorable L. J. Quisely, The Honorable
Z. P. Smith, and The Honorable George
DeReef, first published The Wisconsin
Weekly Blade on June 8, 1916.
Josey along with L.J. Quisely, Z. P.
Smith, and George DeReef partnered
to launch the Wisconsin Weekly Blade
on June 8, 1916. They all wrote articles
and editorials, but later only The Honorable
Josey became the sole editor. Later that same
year, the paper would merge with The
Wisconsin Enterprise to form the
Wisconsin Enterprise Blade. The new
paper would eventually cease in 1944.
Black Newspapers History Month,
celebrated every year in January, was
founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise, and respect
the Publishers, Editors, Reporters,
Typesetters, Secretaries, Agents,
Distributors, Newsstands, Paperboys,
and all of the the Team Members,
over the many decades, necessary
to produce and disseminate to Our
Black Beautiful Populations the needed
paper ( and now digital) instruments
to inform, inspire, and promote literacy,
so that Our People can make better
decisions, remember Our Great Histories,
to keep Our People up on current events,
to engage our populations to organize,
provide tips and methods to stay safe
in potentially-hostile environments,
and create mechanisms to construct
Our Enterprises for Our Outstanding Futures.
