Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'
Muscling in on a great opportunity,
The Honorable C. F. Richardson, Sr. founded
The Informer in Houston, Texas in 1919, also
serving as its Editor-in-Chief.
Among the information it gave to its readers
was the blow by blow coverage of the 'Red Summer' Riots of
1919, which started on July2, 1919 in Chicago,
Washington, D.C., and other cities boiling from
fierce competition for jobs among the races,
and any perceived slight caused violence. In 1931,
it merged with The Texas Freeman and formed
The Informer And Texas Freeman.
Black Newspapers History Month,
celebrated every year in January, was
founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise, and respect
the Publishers, Editors, Reporters,
Typesetters, Secretaries, Agents,
Distributors, Newsstands, Paperboys,
and all of the the Team Members,
over the many decades, necessary
to produce and disseminate to Our
Black Beautiful Populations the needed
paper ( and now digital) instruments
to inform, inspire, and promote literacy,
so that Our People can make better
decisions, remember Our Great Histories,
to keep Our People up on current events,
to engage our populations to organize,
provide tips and methods to stay safe
in potentially-hostile environments,
and create mechanisms to construct
Our Enterprises for Our Outstanding Futures.
