Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'
is:
...Speakin' Out News!
Not knowing that it would become the
longest-running Big, Black, and Beautiful newspaper
in Huntsville, and northern Alabama,
the Jackson State University. alum,
the Honorable William D. Smothers, at his
kitchen table in Decatur, founded and still
publishes the Speakin' Out News, starting in 1980.
Debuting as a monthly, then twice monthly,
before finally becoming a weekly,
the paper is integral to the business and legal
communities because of its forthrightness and longevity.
Ensuring journalistic excellence and relevancy
with every Wednesday delivery, the Associate
Publisher and Managing Editor,
The Honorable Jemeana Smothers Robinson, also a
Jackson State U. alum, is consistently able to
put out quality product with the help of
her more than capable staff.
Making significant history every week and
enlarging both their print and media footprints,
they are positively affecting present and future
generations and are cementing their legacies!
