Black Newspapers History Month!... 'Newspaper Of The Week!'...Wide-Awake!!

Our 'Newspaper Of The Week'

is:

...The Wide-Awake!

Not one to take what the oppressors do lying

down, The Honorable L. H. Harrison stood on

his literary  'soap box,' The Wide-Awake newspaper

and wrote and published what Our Beautiful

Black People needed to hear! The slogan of the

paper, borrowed from the great warrior Hannibal

who crossed the Alps said,

"Find a Way or Make One, for Marching Must Be Done!"

This periodical lasted to around 1906.

Black Newspapers History Month was

founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.

in 2025 to acknowledge, praise, and respect

the Publishers, Editors, Reporters,

Typesetters, Secretaries, Agents,

Distributors, Newsstands, Paperboys,

and all of the the Team Members,

over the many decades, necessary

to produce and disseminate to Our

Black Beautiful Populations the needed

paper ( and now digital) instruments

to inform, inspire, and promote literacy,

so that Our People can make better

decisions, remember Our Great Histories,

to keep Our People up on current events,

to engage our populations to organize,

provide tips and methods to stay safe

in potentially-hostile environments,

and create mechanisms to construct

Our Enterprises for Our Outstanding Futures.

The Founder of Black Newspapers History Month,

Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.,

is also a Historical Newspaper enthusiast

and USC Dental School Graduate.
